KIM KARDASHIAN CAME TO LIMELIGHT THROUGH A SEX TAPE, SO?
It was one of those boring days in the office, tired sick of
them law reports and legal books. For a change, I plunged into the internet. I
was surfing the net, then suddenly something caught my attention on Facebook.
On a friend's wall was the pictures of Jay-Z, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Kanye
West. These Hollywood's sweet hearts where being rated according to their
accomplishments. The Author of the post stated that Jay-Z has won 17 Grammy
Awards, Beyonce, 17 Grammy Awards, Kanye West, 21 Grammy Awards and for my darling Kim Kardashian, she only
has a sex tape to her credit.
It was from here that
all hell was let loss. Folks called her all the names in the books and more. It
wasn't cool at all. As the Women's Rights Defender that I am, 'lol'! I rose to
the occasion. I was prepared to take up her case 'Pro Bono' (for free) and thank her afterwards... Laughs!!!
I asked everyone to go easy on the poor defenseless girl.
None of us here are without a fault. As much as I do not approve of her conduct
nor do I encourage immorality and pornography, in my opinion, I think that if
there is anyone to blame, then it should be Singer Ray J., her then-boyfriend.
The only offence traceable to Kim Kardashian was the fact that she loved and
trusted the wrong guy. This could happen to anyone of us. No one is immune to such occurrence.
I gathered that Ray J.
has not stopped bragging about the sex
tape more than six years after it went viral. Imagine him popping up out from
nowhere to offer his congratulations to Kim and Kanye, then made an unusual
wedding gift: Porn profit (Ray J says he will gift the couple nearly $47,000, this
year's royalty profits for the now infamous sex tape that made Kim famous...).
Doesn't that show you how depraved some folks can be? Real men don t do kiss and
tell. You sure have your personal opinions, believe me, I respect that. This is
mine and I hope you respect it too.
These whole thing really got me thinking. Imagine after
leaving the house in the morning for the office, someone sneaked into my room,
my hallowed sanctuary, that only one place where am free to be me, the real me,
away from the preying eyes of the world. Imagine he installed a camera in my
room or imagine that my cell phone was bugged without my knowledge! My dear, I
tremble at what that camera would pick or what that recorded conversations
would reveal. Do you not relate with me on this?
If walls could talk, would we really be that pious looking
dude or babe? Would you still be that self-righteous and judgmental fellow?
Would you still stand on the alter and minister as a Youth Pastor or Sing in
the Choir lifting up holy hands? Would you still walk the streets with
shoulders squared?
I'll rather stare deep into the eyes of yesterday's mess and
harness it for today's good and then strive with all diligence not to repeat
the mistake of yesterday.
Like it or not, Kim Kardashian has since transcended her
scandal, ultimately turning herself into an enduring public figure. Seven years
later, it has become clear that what truly made Kim a superstar isn't the creation of some home-made porn, but her
ability to distance herself from the very impetus for her fame in building a
brand that is paradoxically sexy yet not based on sex.
We all have pasts, some very dirty and messy. It is time to
stare deep into the eyes of that mess and harness it for today's good. It is
time to position yourself properly so that God can make beautiful music from
your broken strings... It doesn't matter how bad you think you are, God can fix
you. Lets learn to look inward. Don't be quick to throw stones.

More like "beautiful music from broken strings". Nice piece. It is very easy, and sometimes fun to play the judge. But what happens when the table turns, and we become the accused? I guess it won't be that easy, nor fun again.
ReplyDeleteExactly by brother. experience has thought me that the guilty party is the one that is always quick to throw stones. God help us to channel all the energies we use in criticizing others toward making ourselves better people.
DeleteAnother great piece and nicely placed words. Interestingly, for the First time I got to see Kim K. in a different light even though I absolutely adore her for being compassionate and working hard to create a niche for herself. Point there is God can make broken pieces look so amazing. Above all it has proven we can't be judge over another's destiny.
ReplyDeleteI really cannot imagine what it would look like to be reminded of a thing I did in my past constantly by people I know, those I don’t know, and those who wants to spit it in my face at the slightest provocation. I would be miserable living under such a negative cloud. Now this is me, am taking as a man. If there is anything I have for Kim K, its respect and admiration. having to have fought scandal with her self esteem still intact not minding t he fact that she is a woman. The only one who has the right to judge us and pass judgment accordingly says "if I forgive, I don't keep record of your past" Who then is man to constantly subject fellow man to such torture and inhuman treatments?
DeleteI can relate with "loved and trusted the wrong guy" Thank God for grace and for how far He has brought us.
ReplyDeleteLoving the wrong person is the greatest mistake anyone can ever make. But often time, we do not know the end from the beginning because of the fact that we are not God, for it is only He that knows the intentions in a man's heart. Ray J is such a pathetic loser (pardon my language).
DeleteIf people put as much attention, energy, and time on their own lives than they do concentrating and judging others, not only will they be better off, the world would be a better place.
Woow... I had never looked at this from this point of view.. Tnx for helping me see it this way
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Tangi and thanks for stopping bye. You're deeply appreciated.
