Jewelry: Does the Bible Say it's a Sin?

Image
What the Scriptures Really Say by Jason Young.   (As published by Obi Chikodi Luther on his Facebook page . It made an interesting read, so I thought to share.*I inserted the picture*) There are two separate verses in the New Testament that, at first glance, appear to teach against wearing jewelry. The first is 1 Pet 3:3 which reads, “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel…” The second and very similar verse is 1 Tim 2:9 that says, “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array…” But are these scriptures forbidding the use of jewelry by Christians?

SEX AFFAIR part 2

"It is not how much we do but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give but how much love we put in the giving" -Mother Teresa Ninety percent of marriages have failed a long time ago. Parties are just holding up because of one reason or the other. It is either because of the children of the marriage or because of what society will think and say about them, or simply because they are afraid to leave familiar ground. The above raises a lot of questions. Why are marriages breaking down in the 21st century? What was it that held our parents glued together in their marriages? What are we not getting right? What were they doing that we  are not doing now? A lot has gone wrong in this generation. The ancient landmark has been altered, things can no longer hold up together. As it is, the opening paragraph has raised a lot of issues as we can see in the second paragraph. I shall endeavor to state my opinions in all of the issues raised. But in order...

SEX AFFAIR (PART 1)

"What an amazing gift intercourse is. It is only natural that we crave it, enjoy it, and celebrate it. Sex is a life force. No wonder the body explodes in ecstasy when we couple. But it is more than body meeting body. Good sex, divinely ordained sex, is a blissful soul union. Sex makes a man feel loved"  -BISHOP T.D. JAKES So, I uploaded the above screenshot on my DP (Display Picture) on BBM, and all hell was let lose. One of my very respected Senior colleagues engaged me in a drilling interview and reprimanded me nonstop. Among the things he said were: "Perez, you are a pastor, or better still, you have put out yourself to the world as a Minister of the gospel, there are things that must not be mentioned about you. You shouldn't be seen putting up pictures like this on the internet". I was at a loss, and in fact, totally confused as to what he meant or what exactly he was talking about. I demanded to know exactly what his issue was with me uploadi...

THE WONDER WORKING SPERM !

Image
Someone once asked "If Eternal security is Biblical – Does it mean that one can Sin with impunity?" The doctrine of eternal security that once a person accepts Jesus Christ as his savior, he never can be lost. The 'once saved, forever saved' doctrine allows people to commit every sin conceivable under the sun without suffering any consequences for their actions and complete lack of godly living. The doctrine of eternal security in my mind therefore means that anyone can Sin with impunity thereafter. This is the single reason why a youth pastor will be cohabiting with a women he is not legally married to and yet have the audacity to mount the alter and minister in the name of the Lord. Whatever happened to “shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound?!

AS THE FLOWER BLOOMED, THE INSECTS CAME!

Image
On this beautiful Saturday morning, as I lounge around the premises, I couldn't help noticing the presence of different species of insects around my balcony. What in God's name is happening here? My little plant is in full bloom. I was amazed that this little plant had been here all along and I hadn't seen any insect on it. Mother nature has all the answers to my puzzle. The insects were attracted from far and near-it seems-by the scents of the flower of the plant.
