ON THE VEXED ISSUE OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
Last Wednesday, a week today, on my way to work, I ran into an old friend who is now an amazing father of two adorable daughters.
As I approached him, I heard it loudly in my spirit: "tell him he has a mandate to raise wholesome children."
Do you know that there's nothing new under the sun! Even the vexed
issue of Child sexual abuse is as old as time. It only became more
rampant in recent times because parents have let down their guards.
Those days, Parents Protected their children and marked their
territories. But these days, we are consumed with many things. Our
desire to meet up with societal expectations, our drive to be
successful in the world's perspective and economic pressure has lead us
to sacrifice our children's innocence on the altar of career and the
good life.
Friends, if living in Maitama for example will be too demanding on you, necessitating your going out of the house by 6am and return by 9, you ought to go live in kubwa. If that will give you ample time to raise wholesome children and not leave them at the Mercy of house helps, teachers and caregivers.
There's no price or sacrifice too much to pay for the sake of our children. I mean, of what use will it be if we have all the wealth of this world but have dysfunctional children. The greatest success for any parents is to raise wholesome children.
