AS THE FLOWER BLOOMED, THE INSECTS CAME!

On this beautiful Saturday morning, as I lounge around the premises, I couldn't help noticing the presence of different species of insects around my balcony. What in God's name is happening here? My little plant is in full bloom.

I was amazed that this little plant had been here all along and I hadn't seen any insect on it. Mother nature has all the answers to my puzzle. The insects were attracted from far and near-it seems-by the scents of the flower of the plant.

I believe the above happens to us humans as well . A young lady feels she’s on top of the world because she has men flocking around her in droves. They (i.e. the men)  do so for either of two reasons: One, either you’re very cheap and accessible or because they consider you a sublime beauty and they want to claim you as something of trophy. The greatest fool among women is the one who prides herself in the number of men that have hung out with her. For this type of woman, my advice for you is simple; Your beauty may take you to the palace, but character is what will keep you there.

He is tall, dark and handsome (IDH). He loves God passionately and is very ambitious. And he has loads of charisma-what they call 'swagger'. As you might have guessed, he is a hit with the ladies. I must confess that I often wish, secretly, that I had half the attention he enjoyed from the ladies.

He will be mistaken of course if he thinks that his good looks alone are what attracts all these  ladies to him. As a pastor in his local assembly, I can tell you that some of these ladies do not have good intentions. Many of them are agents of Satan, (but of course they do not know this) and their mission is to compromise his faith. Most of these ladies are not really interested in his attributes, rather, they seek after something much more important than that. It’s a fight for his very destiny. A lot of young people have had their destinies altered on account of illicit sexual relations with people assumed were normal and ordinary everyday people.  Beware, you could  be deceived!

A tomboy quits climbing trees, jumping fences and playing soccer. She stops displaying those characteristics immediately she discovers that she's pregnant. She doesn't stop doing these things simply because she feels like it; she  had no choice because of the life of the baby that is growing inside her. She has a responsibility to ensure that her child is born alive and healthy. Yes, pregnancy has made Miss Tomboy fragile. Your destiny, dreams, calling, aspirations and talents ought to make you circumspect - if not fragile.

We all are pregnant with a lot of potential. The world has become a terrible place to live in simply because most of us have suffered self inflicted miscarriages.  Miscarriages of great ideas, solutions and answers. It's been said that the grave is the wealthiest place on earth because of millions of untapped potentials buried there. Just think of those great dreams and talents that have died prematurely, all the miscarriages of ideas and dreams, all the willful abortion of visions for moments of pleasures and untamed passions. If only God will open our eyes sometimes and we see what His plans are for us, I tell you, we would lead a more dignified life. The good news however is that your womb of ideas isn't badly damaged yet. You can dream again. And once you conceive again my friend, No amount of sacrifice should be too big for you to make.

As Christians, we are the light of the world, like light, we attract both the good and the bad people. As we shine forth, they yearn to get in touch. How we react to the people we attract will determine whether we will keep shinning as the light of the world that we are.

Being selective isn't the best way of going about it. The model of shinning  forth as light perpetually is the only power that darkness cannot resist. It is imperative therefore that we do everything humanly possible to maintain the light that God has deposited in us. Five minutes of pleasure could be all that the devil needs to run your ship aground. If you want to know what losing one’s destiny feels like, ask Brother Esau, who in a moment of intense hunger sold his birth-right for a plate of pottage in Genesis 27:16. “For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears”

In the same vein, Tamar the daughter of King David was raped and abandoned. In her case she wasn't guilty of any form of indiscipline, but her good heart and beauty became her curse. Tamar was the daughter of Maacah, a princess from a neighboring Kingdom; she was of royal descent on her mother’s side she was extraordinarily beautiful, like her brother Absalom. Her beauty was a burden: she was desired by her obsessive half-brother Amnon who lured her to his room and raped her. He refused to marry her, so she was disgraced permanently, and may never have married. Tamar lived out her days in the royal harem. The account of her rape is described in 2 Samuel Chapter 13.

Dear sister, when that smooth-talking brother comes along, fulfilling all your dreams and fantasies, let Tamar's story quickly come to mind. Remember, it's not all that glitters that is gold.

Every farmer loves the bees and other insects for purposes of pollination, but do you know that the insects do not have the interest of the farmer at heart? Pollination is the least thing on their mind as they hop from flower to flower, collecting nectar. Their primary assignment and duty is to suck all the nectar there is. Pollination happens by accident without the knowledge of the selfish insects. So watch it, soul sister, it is when the flower blooms, that the insects come.
