DIARY OF THE DEFILED VIRGIN



In criminal law, there must be the concurrence of the 'all important' elements of crime; Mens rea (mental state) and Actus reus (Conduct or action).
If prosecution fails at proving this two elements in the commission of a crime, or where the Defense raises a defense on the ground that the Accused lacked the mental capacity to commit the said crime, the alleged criminal walks free...

My query then is, why do we label and stigmatize victims of rape, seeing that they did not have a hand in the ill that befell them. They lacked the mental capacity, neither did they ask themselves to be raped. We look for ways to get guilty criminals off the hook but shame the defenseless people who became victims of circumstances and the cruelty of others.

It is my position that a young girl or woman whose innocence and dignity was violated without her consent should still be seen and treated as a virgin. This position of mine is in all fours with the criminal law principle of concurrence of both the Mens rea and Actus reus in other to convict an Accused .

Virginity goes beyond the presence or absence of the hymen.
Virginity is a mental state not a situation. Physical virginity does not mean mind purity! One is more important than the other. I'll rather the purity of the mind than have a physical virgin with perverted mind.

So, someone asked me, why do church leaders find it very easy to discipline and suspend a member overtaken by a sin. Particularly when it has to do with the sin of fornication? Are not all sins equal before God? I feel it depends on the personality of the individual involved. In my considered view, it is my opinion that when the person caught up in the sin is a regular church member, the church must be very careful dealing with that issue. Because, our actions or inaction might either draw that individual closer to God or further push the person away to the waiting arms of the devil. On the other hand, when the individual involved in the sin, say the sin of fornication or adultery is a minister, it is biblical for the leadership of the church  to take action and employ measures to address  that situation.
